Fetzer Chardonnay Sundial 2000

California, United StatesFetzer's Sundial chardonnay named after the family's first vineyard. Sundial is 100 per cent chardonnay made with 50 to 55 per cent coastal fruit form Monterey County, Mendocino and Santa Barbara. The wine is 50 per cent oak fermented, 25 percent of which is done in new oak barrels (the same barrels are used for Bonterra and Barrel Select. Fifteen per cent of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation and 15 percent go through "banana tanks" where they let the temperature run up to 70 degrees. The '00 Sundial is an elegant chardonnay with citrus flavours built into its underlying theme of honey and ripe apple flavours. The finish is soft and creamy. Spicy Cajun chicken would help offset the ripe fruit. Production runs form 800,000 to 1,000,000. Tasted: 01 September 2001Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
