Domaine la Bastide Viognier 2000
Vin de Pays d'Hauterive, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceViognier is a lesser known grape used in the Rhone to make Condrieu but one that is catching on as a 'varietal' in California, Chile, Australia and now the south of France. The Bastide version sees no wood but does spend six months ageing on its lees in stainless steel tanks. The result is a surprisingly plump wine with grassy, floral, mineral notes that strikes the right balance between being too lean and too fat. I think you'll like this one.Tasted: 01 September 2001Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $14.50 | 750ml |
