Santa Rita Floresta Syrah Merlot 1998
Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileFloresta, which loosely translates as a 'garden of flowers,' represents a new series of blended wines from Santa Rita positioned between the high end Medalla Real labels and the super premium Casa Real. This 60/40 syrah/merlot blend is the work of winemaker Cecilia Torres who is hoping to tame the robust peppery fruit flavours of the syrah with the soft fruity textures of the merlot. Ageing is in new American oak for about eight months, which gives the wine a bit of a Down Under flavour.
