Chateau Carignan 1998

Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux, Cotes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, FranceThe property encompasses 150 hectares, of which 65 are planted to 65 per cent merlot, 25 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 10 per cent cabernet franc. This is Carignan's top wine and is made from forty year-old estate vines, aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. The '98 blend is 80/20 merlot/cabernet franc. Spicy, pepper, green olive, vanilla, smoky black cherry with cedar, earth and leather notes. Similar flavours with an earthy, straw, green olive, pepper finish. Forward, round and drinkable now but will age for about five years. Good style for restaurants and newbies to Bordeaux.Tasted: 01 March 2001Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
