Caliterra Merlot Reserva 1998
Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileA blend of 50/50 Rapel and Maipo fruit. It's the first year for a reserve merlot. A cooler vintage gives this red more elegance and spice on the nose. Much better than the regular with less herbaceous fruit and more chocolate. Quite a big wine. Touch of olive and bell pepper but not anything to be concerned about. Bottled in March 99 in a blend of 50/50 French and American oak. There's 15 percent Cabernet Sauvignon in the mix.
