Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinho Tinto Reserva 1997

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalOn the nose and palate the ripe cherry, blackberry jam, pepper, licorice and vanilla with some pencil lead are clearly intense, very similar to a young port nose lifted by vanilla. The palate is rich, ripe and round with supple tannins and a spicy, earthy, truffle finish. Powerful wine here that will take a decade to come around -- almost like an '82 Bordeaux with big fruit, structure and balance. Drink this as is or as it ages.Tasted: 01 May 2000Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
