Markham Cabernet Sauvignon 1997
Napa Valley, California, United StatesAt Markham the outstanding '97 harvest got underway August 8 and was complete by September 30. It was winemaker Michael Beaulac's first at Markham. The fruit was so impressive the decision was made to make a reserve wine that has not yet been released. The regular cab is an 80/14/6 blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. Look for a well structured, fairly dense, medium to full-bodied cabernet with a ripe blackberry, licorice, and smoky oak aroma. It's a big, rich 'Napa' red, packed with dark fruits, cassis and cedar flavours. It spent 23 months in two-thirds French and one-third American oak barrels all of which lends it a warm rich texture. Lovely wine. Best 2003 to 2007.Tasted: 01 March 2000Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $37.95 | 750ml |
