Penfolds Block 42 Kalimna Cabernet Sauvignon 1996
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaMade from the 1886 vines, all American oak. Opens with a very ripe cassis jam, blackberry, coffee and leather nose with mint, lanolin and pepper. The texture is very ripe and round but extremely supple, perhaps a bit too soft. However, the flavour intensity is fine with blackberry jam, spicy mint, orange rind and tobacco flavours.
