Conde de Valdemar Gran Reserva 1994
Rioja Alta, Rioja, SpainFrom a terrific vintage, this is a blend of 85% tempranillo with mazuelo and a bit of carignan, aged 13 months in American oak. Deep colour with very ripe prune, licorice, marzipan bouquet. Very supple, creamy, rich texture - the whole rational for long ageing - is very appealing. Some alcohol warmth, but not much tannin.
