Nathalie Bonhomme El Petit Bonhomme Tinto 2023

Jumilla, Valencia and Murcia, SpainEl Petit Bonhomme's organic fruit is sourced from Jumilla, Murcia. The 55/30/15 mix is a blend of 30-year-old bush vines of monastrell, garnacha, and syrah grown annually in an unforgiving climate. Winemaker Natalie Bonhomme makes this introductory red blend with the same zeal she applies to all her wines: approachable, high-quality, and overdelivers for the price. Yields are naturally low in Jumilla due to limited water availability, lending the wine a concentration you seldom see at this price point. It is hand-harvested, cold-macerated, and fermented for two weeks in small stainless-steel vats. It goes through malolactic fermentation in 225L French oak barrels for the monastrell and syrah, and 300L American oak for the garnacha. In all, it spends six months in French oak. The good news in the 2023 vintage is that it is fresher than 2022 and has better balance, trading off structure for drinkability. Good value.Tasted: 14 February 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
