Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis organic pinot gris, blended from 50% juice and 50% whole cluster fruit grown around Haywire Winery, is native fermented in amphora, where it remained on skins and lees for 9 months. There is no pressing. It opens with a lightly aged nose and flavours of peaches, earth, and apricots. The texture is at its best, rich and smooth, with a peach skin finish. Time to drink up.Tasted: 17 April 2025Tasted by: Prices:

Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis organic Switchback estate pinot gris blended 50% juice and 50% whole cluster fruit, native fermented in amphora, where it remained on skins and lees for 9 months, without pressing. After blending, it rested 2 more months in concrete before heading to bottle. I was surprised to see a 2020 in the box of current and upcoming releases, and the wine is certainly showing its age. Slight bergamot, delicate peach blossoms, and tangerine kisses are woven along the slight palate, textured subtly via skins and vessel, giving this some intrigue on the palate. The finish fades off into crushed stone and peach fuzz. I would have liked to see this a couple of years back, though it's a pleasant sipper now, especially with lightly spiced broth based dishes.Tasted: 15 April 2025Tasted by: Prices:
