Château de France Rouge 2019

Pessac-Léognan, Graves, Bordeaux, FranceChâteau de France was purchased in 1971 by Bernard Thomassin, with their 40 hectares in Pessac-Léognan currently managed Arnaud Thomassin, and is consulted by Michel Rolland since 1996. Roughly equal parts cabernet sauvignon and merlot, from deep gravels over clay / limestone. After a stainless ferment, this rested in oak barrels 30% new) for one year. There's a definite earthy barrel edge to this savoury Bx, with dusty tannins, dried cherry, autumnal leaves, with structural tannins turning bitter edged on the warming finish.
