Sokol Blosser Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir 2022

Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesSokol Blosser Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir is first and foremost grown to be rosé. It’s made in an attractive dry-ish style, and in 2018, the coolest year in Oregon, it is a winner. The juice was given six hours of contact before being divided into multiple stainless steel tanks. One portion was inoculated with neutral yeast, and the other with yeast that lifted the pinot noir fruit aromatics. Each gets an extended, slow, cool fermentation to heighten the fruit and floral notes. It’s pink that doesn’t try too hard to be anything but a rosé. Juicy and a hint sour, it has summer night and food bites written all over it. The match is Dungeness crab in BC. The winery suggests a roasted beet salad topped with goat cheese and pistachios accompanied by crab cake sliders and a cheese board for dessert.Tasted: 10 March 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
