Quails' Gate Chenin Blanc Clone 220 2021

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFor those who crave something different, Clone 220 Chenin Blanc is a rare occasion in British Columbia grape growing and a star at Quails’ Gate. It hails from Alsace but has been growing for over two decades at the Westbank winery. It is part of the Distinction Series, which means it comes and goes depending on the vintage. It is partially fermented in concrete eggs, all part of its gentle handling regime. The wine is aged in neutral oak barrels for six months to plump up the palate of this stylish, bright, lively wine, with lime and quince running throughout. The latest effort is impressive and well worth trying. It also has the potential to age seven to ten years and develop an even richer patina of flavours. So delicious and complex that it is very versatile at the dinner table. Distinctive indeed.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
