Mouton Cadet Rouge 90th Birthday 2020

Bordeaux, FranceThis is the best Mouton Cadet to come to the market in some time, and they are only beginning to tweak the style. We can expect more refinement under new director of wines, Jerome Aquirre, in the coming vintages. The blend is a 92/5/3 mix of merlot / cabernet sauvignon / cabernet franc, bringing red fruit, cabernet franc for perfume and elegance and cabernet sauvignon for a bit of weight and density. The result is a fragrant red and black fruit nose streaked with a hint of earth and spice. The palate has a real Bodreaux bent as if it was farmed and made with care, not just bottled, offering black cherries, raspberries, and a touch of olive, tannin, and spice. It is smooth, refined, and ready to drink with beef tartare, barbecue chicken, or a favourite young soft cheese. The price is a delight.Tasted: 20 March 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
