Leyda Pinot Noir Lot 21 2019

Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileLeyda's LOT wines are meant to express the best of each variety, coming from tiny plots and very limited production (a maximum of 5,000 bottles per vintage). LOT 21 Pinot Noir comes from 3 marine influenced estate plots, and a mix of red granite, iron, calcium carbonate, clay soils, all at various exposures. Each was harvested separately, with around 30% whole cluster, and native fermented in closed concrete vats prior to heading into untoasted, 2000L foudres, a concrete vat, and used 300L French oak barrels. The hefty bottle certainly reflects intent, and the silken plum, black raspberry, wild blackberry dusky florals that rule the medium bodied palate reflects result. There's a lovely freshness here, with a cool stoniness running the base, and long, fine tannins holding the sides through the saline and dried floral finish. Really smart, this merges structure and prettiness very well.Tasted: 06 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:
