Justin Boxler Gewürztraminer Soixante-Cinq 2020
Alsace, FranceIntense from first whiff, this concentrated gew is the oldest plot of their estate vineyards, planted in 1965 (hence the name) in clay soils. After a slow, gentle press, this was fermented and aged in 100+ year old oak barrels until bottling the following summer. A mouthfuling palate of white honey, ripe pear, white peach, and lush quince coats the off-dry palate, with a flint licked stony underlay to counter. Ample acidity keeps this concentrated (yet 13.8%) gew fresh and energetic through the lingering finish.
