Eric Texier Chat Fou 2021

Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceEric Texier is a leading natural and biodynamic vigneron in the Rhone, renewing and reviving the tiny Brézème appellation in North, as well as acting as négociant for other like-minded sites in the Rhône and Mâconnais. This humble Côtes du Rhône is based on 85% grenache with the remainder blending marsanne, clariette, and chasseslas, and vines planted between 1968 and 1978 on clay, limestone, quartz, and granitic rocks. After a native ferment and short maceration in concrete, this is gently pressed before a year's rest in in concrete, and bottling without fining or filtration. A stony basin beds wildflowers, red currant, wild cherry along a slender palate, with faintly sticky tannins and furry sides. The white grapes provide a charming aromatic lift to the red fruit, finishing now on a browning note. Enjoy this 1L bottle liberally now, with a slight chill, and grilled mushroom / pork / savoury salads.Tasted: 25 March 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
