Alsace, FranceAbout twenty kilometers south of Colmar, Jean-Marie Haag’s vineyards descend from the steep hillsides in this narrow valley called Vallée Noble, closed like a horseshoe. Ample smokey reduction leads this flinty riesling, which narrows on the bone dry palate to a strict slip, drawing pear skin, apricot fuzz, lemon pith along to a crushed stone finish.
