Covert Farms Amicitia 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe latest Amicitia made by winemaker Gene Covert is a 35/28/16/11/8/2 blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, petit verdot and syrah, all certified organic. It is fermented for 25 days in open-top fermentors and barrel aged for 14 months. The tannins are front and centre from daily punch downs, but the acidity is bright and helps moderate. The style is dry, the nose a mix of spice with desert sagebrush and blackcurrant with more of the same on the palate. This could use some time in the bottle, a slow-cooked pork belly, or a marbled steak. The certified organic estate vineyards are influenced by neighbouring Okanagan landmarks nʕaylintn (McIntyre Bluff) and are managed with biodynamic and regenerative agriculture practices.Tasted: 20 March 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
