Cave de Ribeauvillé Pinot Noir Rodern 2019

Alsace, FranceCave de Ribeauvillé is the oldest wine cooperative in France, active since 1895. This Pinot Noir comes from the commune of Rodern, around 250-360m, and an area that stretches over a small hill where the grapes of the Grand Cru Gloeckelberg are also grown. After 10 days maceration, this moves to French barrels for 1 year. The barrels are apparent, with a smokey, wet wood character that overrules black cherry and cassis. Tannins are ragged, and acidity is quite tart. Somewhat disjointed, this is best with hearty stews.Tasted: 11 March 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
