Tightrope Winery Merlot Fleet Road Vineyard 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe nose is exuberant, offering up blueberry and black plum with streaks of savoury tobacco, dark chocolate, and light but resiny tannins with a touch of espresso. A big wine, semi-polished, that will need three to five years to reach full maturity. Well made. I would reduce some of that new oak and drop the American oak altogether to let the fruit soar. The grapes are sustainably grown at the Fleet Road Vineyard within Tightrope Estate on the Naramata Bench. It is all selectively hand picked over two days and placed into 1/2 ton fermenters and cold soaked for five days before fermentation. The resulting wine is aged for 12 months in 50 percent new French oak, and 50 percent used oak, including a small percentage of American oak.Tasted: 03 February 2023Tasted by: Prices:
