Joseph Drouhin Rully Rouge 2020

Rully, Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy, FranceDrouhin has been around since the 1880s, with the current generation's great grandfather starting the business as a negociant. In the early 20th century the family started as winemakers, purchasing and planting their first vineyards in the early 1960s. Rully sits south of the Côte d'Or, in Mercurey's limestone layered soils. This biodynamically farmed estate pinot was joined with purchased fruit, and macerated over 2-3 weeks prior to a native ferment. It then aged in barrels (10% new) for 15 months. Perfumed dark plum, tart wild blackberry floods a juicy palate, scented with forest floor and black tea. Tannins are finely sticky, and the acidity is limestone lit and buzzy throughout. An approachable, smart Rully ready for drinking now, ideally with wild mushrooms and/or duck.Tasted: 26 February 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
