Joseph Drouhin Morgon 2020

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThis Morgon has an expressive, fruit-driven nose, offering a combination of dark cherries and raspberries, which is lifted by perfumed violets. There's a clear ripeness to the fruit, as you'd expect for the warm 2020 vintage, and this manages to clock in at just 13.5% alcohol. But what really stands out is the purity of the fruit: bright and well-defined, with a youthful exuberance thanks to the semi-carbonic winemaking that makes this delicious even at this early stage. It's not the most structured Morgon, but there is a backbone of fine-grained tannins with excellent fruit concentration that suggests this will be worth tucking a few bottles away for 4-6 years. Very good length, carried by a stony minerality.Tasted: 26 February 2023Tasted by: Prices:
