Hillside Heritage Series Viognier 2021

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Kathy Malone's white winemaking is always about fragrance and elegance, and in 2021 the viognier represents. A long warm growing season yielded fully ripe fruit that was handled to preserve all the delicate aromatics. The nose is an explosion of spring blossoms and rose petals that spill onto a silky, spicy honeysuckle palate. Pretty is the best description, and it is ready to drink. Technically after 18 hours of skin contact, 70 percent was barrel fermented in new French oak, while the remainder was slow fermented in stainless steel. At the six-month mark after regular lees stirrings, the wine was racked and blended. The sweet fruit ripeness takes me to spicy food as the perfect match.Tasted: 18 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
