Drouhin Vaudon Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons 2020

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceDrouhin has been around since the 1880s, with the current generation's great grandfather starting the business as a negociant. In the early 20th century the family started as winemakers, purchasing and planting their first vineyards in the early 1960s. This 1er Cru comes from Vaillons, on the southwest bank of Chablis, facing east, and its kimmeridgian limestone. The 30 year old estate vines are biodynamically farmed (since 1999) and supplemented with purchased fruit. After a slow pressing and ferment in stainless, this remained on lees for 8 months until bottling. Tight lemon pith and peel streaks across the amply saline palate, scented with tiny white blossoms, and shaped with a buzzy limestone jacket, structuring this through a lingering mineral / saline finish. Lovely poise, energy, and tension, this 2020 is shining at present, and will hold over coming years.Tasted: 26 February 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
