Torres Salmos 2018

Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFrom Porrera's llicorella's soils and Torres' La Giberga vineyard (planted in the mid-90s), Salmos is a tribute to the monks of the Carthusian Monastery of Scala Dei, who arrived in Priorat in 1194 and introduced winegrowing. This blend of cariñena and garnacha was fermented in stainless before transferring to French barrels (20% new) for 14 months. Though a fuller wine at 14%, the black slate soils and altitude keep this feeling fresh and nimble on the palate, with wild blackberry, thorns, wild blueberries, crushed stones, and dried and fresh purple florals, wrapped with long, fuzzy tannins which trail off into a stony saline wash. You can feel the profoundness of Priorat in this wine.Tasted: 14 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
