Stonestreet Estate Chardonnay 2018

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe estate bottling is a mix of the best Chardonnay grown on the Alexander Valley mountainside. Winemaker Lisa Valtenbergs is all about precision and does a fine job of balancing the aromatics and textures with the signature structural elements of the Mayacamus Mountain. It is rich, to be sure, with pineapple and salted caramel that recede into a mineral saline mid-palate and creamy finish. Substantial by modern chardonnay standards yet restrained in a fashion that lets you get to its heart and bright, clean finale. The vineyard is only 23 miles from the cool Pacific Ocean and climbs from 400 to 1800 feet. The chardonnay clones are Peter Michael and 4, and it is all barrel fermented with native yeast that goes through malolactic fermentation in the barrel. The lees are stirred monthly, and it is barrel aged for ten months in 32% new French oak.Tasted: 16 January 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
