Mount Brave Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Mount Veeder, Napa Valley, California, United StatesMt. Brave Vineyard sits high atop Mt. Veeder at an elevation of 1,400 to 1,800 feet on the original home of the Napa native Wappo tribe. The area has been planted since the early 1860s. The site is all about high elevation, meaning thin, rocky soils and numerous winegrowing challenges, including the most extended growing season and lowest yields in Napa Valley. Winemaker Chris Carpenter says “Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon is meant to show all that is Mt. Veeder without overt tannins.” In 2019 the savoury, dried herb notes were front and centre after a “very wet winter, frequent foggy spring mornings, and a mild summer with just a handful of brief heat spikes.” A classic Mt. Brave, offering density and structure, and a rich, spicy, black cherry, blueberry palate. Long and satisfying, this is an outstanding Mt Brave and an authentic Napa Valley cabernet. The blend is 89.5/4.5/3/2/1.5 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec, and petit verdot. Drink through 2040.Tasted: 17 January 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
