Meyer Family Vineyards Old Main Road Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIn past years, this wine was designated to their Tribute Series Chardonnay. After last year's Tribute to Terry Threlfall, and the Meyer Family's contribution of $75,000 to numerous organizations and charities across Canada over the past 15 years, that label has been retired. From Naramata Bench's Old Main Road Vineyard, and its silt over clay loams around 350m, this chardy (planted in 1996) was aged in French barrels (22% new) for 11 months on lees, without bâtonnage. It went to barrel without fining or filtration. Ripe and creamy, with a toasted backdrop, this medium bodied chard is flush with ripe white peach, pear, yellow apple, and nutmeg, finishing with a bacon kiss. The wood spicing sticks out at this point, but should integrate with time, and/or with roast chicken.Tasted: 15 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
