Fogolar Riesling 2020
Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaFogolar Wines is a new small-lot Niagara project created by winemaker Marc Pistor, and named in honour of his Friulian roots (fogolar = hearth). Fruit from select Niagara vineyards were fermented separately (partially wild), halted partway through to hold onto the desired amount of RS. This aged 10 months in stainless steel. Just off-dry, with cool lime, pear, white peach along a sleek, light bodied palate. The acidity does well to balance out the 28 g/L RS, leaving this very food and solo sipping friendly.
