Martin's Lane Zenith Single Block Collection Pinot Noir 2019

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaZenith is the first single-block wine to come out of Martin’s Lane, and it's located inside Naramata Ranch at precisely 49.66° N and -119.631° W. It’s a rugged high-altitude site at 550 metres, that is as complex as the wine. The winery describes the wine as “rooted in calculation, alchemy and abstract expression.” It is a unique beginning with its opulent earthy bent, and wild berry nose. It is all 667 clones yielding a darker-coloured pinot with bright floral overtones and intense black cherry. Think of the Okanagan on steroids. The texture tells the story, so long, silky and layered that winemaker Munn says it “is a result of high altitude, precision viticulture and gravity flow.” The fruit is grown organically and was certified as of the 2020 vintage. The limited-release, single-block offering comes from eight select barrels and is sold in 3-bottle lots at $375 to club members.Tasted: 21 December 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
