Maria Rigol Ordi Brut Nature Gran Reserva NV

Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThe Europeans call this a gastronomic wine, and I agree. The blend is classic Cava: Xarel·lo, Macabeu, and Parellada grown at 200-400 metres in the Penedès region. Gran Reserva means at least 60 months of ageing in the bottle, clearly evident when you pop the cork. This bottle was disgorged on January 27, 2022, releasing the flavours built by all the ageing in the cellars. At this point, the expressive, creamy, apple, and walnut are charming. Surprisingly fresh for its age, this is a delight to drink with food, hence its gastronomic tag. This is a bubble for celebration and contemplation or, as the winery suggests, Iberian ham, foie gras, fish, white meats, paellas, marmitakos, and risottos.Tasted: 21 December 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
