Torres Celeste Crianza 2018

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainThis tempranillo, from 40 year old vines and high altitude vineyards in Ribera Del Duero, takes its name from the celestial heavens, seemingly within reach from the 895m high vineyard. From this site, far away from lights and habituation, Miguel Torres Jr has said “you can almost touch the stars.” The memorable label is a depiction of the constellations seen if you look straight up when you’re standing in said vineyard. After a stainless ferment, this transferred to new barrels for MLF, prior to moving into French and American oak (10-15% new) for 1 year. Dense with blackberry, black cherry stretched across a taut palate, lit with bright mountainous acidity, and housed with lightly furry tannins. There's a lovely mountainous freshness lighting this full-bodied red from within. Serve now with roast lamb / root veg.Tasted: 18 November 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
