Seña 2019

Valle de Aconcagua, Region de Aconcagua, ChileThe 2019 Seña mixes 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 15% Carmenere, and 4% Petit Verdot from a cool year, at least in Panquehue. It is primarily fermented in stainless steel, with only 10% coming out of concrete vats, keeping the wine taut and restrained. It soaks up 80 percent new French oak barrels and 10 percent in larger wood, where it’s aged for 22 months. It opens with a classic mix of red fruit and an earthy root ball streaked with cedar and tobacco. It is tightly wound, youthful, and at this point, linear, suggesting it will need a good five to seven years in the bottle before it's ready for prime time. The current finish is dry and savoury while flashing plenty of refreshing acidity. Its greatest asset is its elegance, so be patient.Tasted: 13 November 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
