Bachelder Bator Old Vines Chardonnay 2020

Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaBator 2020 is clone 76 chardonnay, now fifteen years old. It’s aged in used French oak barrels for two years. The nose is ethereal and clean with pears and peaches but with a restraint seldom seen in New World chardonnay. The leesy texture is wonderfully creamy with bright twangy acidity and a saline shake in the back end. It’s not long or overly complex, but it slides down effortlessly with the help of some electric minerality. The vineyard is located in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation at the extreme west of the appellation, close to St. Catharines.Tasted: 29 November 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
