Yalumba The Tri-Centenary Grenache Ancestor Vine 2019

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaWhat can you say about this wine that hasn't been said? Well, how about rush out and buy it and drink it? Don't let its pale red colour put you off; this is the real thing. Hand-picked from a ragged bunch of old bush vines planted 133 years ago in 1889, the story is texture, texture, texture. This wine is swimming in one of the silkiest palates I have tasted in my long career. Blue and red fruits with a caramel coating and savoury dried red fruits entice, as does an undercurrent of spice. Nothing but net here, with a finesse you seldom see in any wine. It is persistent, long, and luxurious without being fat and sweet: a genuine Australian treasure. Undervalued in every market.Tasted: 16 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
