Vieux Bourg Beaujolais Blanc Clos du Vieux Bourg 2020

Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceBeaujolais Blanc is a rare phrase in North America, but it is a French chardonnay grown not far from the heart of Burgundy. Dominique Piron, the owner of Domaine du Vieux Bourg, had been making wine in Morgon for 50 years. When he sold Maison Piron, he kept the family vineyards, and began a new life in search of individual wines that tell a story. Using the 35-hectare family estate dating back to the 16th century as his base, he leads a young team that heads up Domaine du Vieux Bourg. Expect a delicious stainless steel fermented chardonnay grown on clay-limestone soil. Bright and floral on the nose, the clay adds a roundness to the flashy citrus, with green apple and mineral highlights. I applaud the complexity and price, making this a perfect candidate for the dinner table.Tasted: 28 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
