Thibault Ducroux Morgon Corcelette 2021

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Bojo but was inspired towards natural wines through reading Jules Chauvet. After working with some natural winemakers in Bojo and Jura, he began his winery with 1.25ha owned vines and 6.5ha total via long-term contracts, all organically farmed and in conversion. This was his second vintage of Corcelette, from 50-year-old vines on granite and schist. Grapes were whole bunch, carbo, native ferment, and aged in old barriques for eight months before bottling without fining or filtration and minimal SO2. Wild plum, black raspberry, and thorns are woven through a stony, textural palate, with brisk, tart acidity streaming through a saline finish. A bit more structure than his other wines, which is welcome. I've concerns about the low SO2 and shipping. I think a bit more would go a long way with these wines.Tasted: 22 October 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
