Thibault Ducroux Morgon 2021

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Bojo but was inspired towards natural wines through reading Jules Chauvet. After working with some natural winemakers in Bojo and Jura, he began his winery with 1.25ha owned vines and 6.5ha total via long-term contracts, all organically farmed and in conversion. This Morgon comes from 2 vineyards he has contracts with, one in Les Charmes (40-year-old vines) and one in Corcelette (50-year-old vines) on granite and schist. After a whole bunch of carbo, this was native fermented and aged in concrete for eight months, bottled without fining filtration, and with minimal sulphur. Sultry dark plum, cassis, and perfumed purple florals are carved out with a firm schistous grip and textured with a fine stony / cement through the aromatic finish. Acidity is crunchy and lifted rhubarb. Quite natural and youthful and fun to drink now, with a slight chill. I've concerns about the low SO2 and shipping.
