Thibault Ducroux Fleurie 2020

Fleurie, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Bojo but was inspired towards natural wines through reading Jules Chauvet. So after working with some natural winemakers in Bojo and Jura, he began his winery with 1.25ha owned vines and 6.5ha total via long-term contracts, all organically farmed and in conversion. This was the first vintage of Fleurie for Thibault, coming off a parcel he contracts in the Grille-Midi of 50 year old vines on pink granite. It's whole bunch carbonated, native fermented and aged in old barriques for eight months with no fining, filtration, and minimal SO2 at bottling. Soft and fuzzy, with raspberries, candied cherries, and herbs, with a tart rhubarb acidity that pops out on the juicy finish. I've concerns about the low SO2 and shipping. I think a bit more would go a long way with these wines.Tasted: 22 October 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
