Storm Haven Pinot Noir 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2020 is the second release of the Storm Haven wines from Synchromesh, with all the fruit coming off their spectacularly diverse 107 acre home site in Okanagan Falls. This Storm Haven Pinot Noir used to be released under their black label, but now has moved over to new blue wax / cross hatch packaging to reflect the home site / Storm Haven portfolio. The 2020 comes off their Amelia Block's clay and granite, as well as Block 4's decomposing granite and sandy gravels. The mix of clones 114, 115, 667, 777, and 828 give a sultry, darkly perfumed black plum blackberry, cassis, and crushed violets to this fleshy red, one bound by finely sticky tannins, lined with fine leather, and lifted by an easy stony acidity. There's a lingering pink peppercorn / charcoal dust on the stony finish. Alan, the king of Riesling, has been slowing working on his red wines, and this smart pinot shows how far he's come. Enjoy with a light chill.Tasted: 12 October 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
