Phantom Creek Estates Phantom Creek Vineyard Cuvée N° 24 2019

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPhantom Creek Vineyard turned 25 in 2021. Pioneering viticulturist Richard Cleave planted it in 1996 on the lower terrace of the Black Sage Bench. The little eight acre parcel is mostly cabernet sauvignon, and it is the lead grape at 55 percent in Cuvee No. 24. The balance starts with the alcohol at 13.8, which seems to fade into the texture with little or no influence on the flavour. It spends 19 months in French oak, half of which is new, but that too fades into the fold to support the fruit without interfering with flavours. The remaining blend 34/15/7/6/2 petit verdot, malbec, syrah, cabernet franc, and merlot disappear effortlessly into a highly refined mix of boysenberries, black cherries, earth, sagebrush, and dense sweet tannins. Already fabulous, this wine has a terrific future from a challenging year. Impressive, but you will have to join the club to get it.Tasted: 28 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
