Marc Delienne Abbaye Road Fleurie 2019

Fleurie, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceMarc Delienne’s Abbay Road is a delight to slip right now, thanks to a slightly less mineral style and a little more fleshy character on the palate. Bright cherries, black plums, and sweet tannins make this fun, but it will age through 2025. That said, the delicacy and refinement on the palate make it so attractive to drink today. Southeast Fleurie vineyard soils are primarily sandy, loamy-sandy, decomposed granite = the secret sauce of gamay. At Delienne, the vines are densely planted (10,000 per hectare) and are old, from 40 to more than 80 years old, and are converting to organics. The wine growing is manual, as is the picking. After a short fermentation in concrete (12 days), it is aged for 11 months, mainly in barrels of 30 hectolitres, some new demi-muids of 600 litres, and a few barriques.Tasted: 28 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
