Il Borro Polissena Sangiovese 2018

Arezzo, Tuscany, ItalyPolissena is aged 12 months in used French Allier oak barrels to protect the Tuscan sangiovese. It opens with earthy forest floor mixed with violets and cherry. On the palate, the complexity builds with the black cherry and mushroom mixing with balsamic and black licorice, persisting throughout the finish. It’s all organic, adding a touch of freshness and lightness to a brooding red with rich, dense tannins despite a very accommodating 13.5 percent alcohol. The structure and complexity of this wine were sure to catch the attention that gave it a rare Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieriross Tre Biccheri rating. It is a buy, and you can hold it through 2025 with no issues. You can serve it now in a pinch with mushroom risotto.Tasted: 15 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
