Champagne Pierre Gimonnet Oenophile RD 2008
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceOenophile is the same blend as Fleuron, the thumbprint blanc de blancs of the vintage, but with no dosage. As the name suggests, this is all about purity, and was originally directed towards the sommelier community. This special RD (Recently Disgorged) 2008 is one of 2000 bottles kept back, and disgorged in May 2021. This is based on Cramant (40%) and Chouilly (38.5%), with 7.5% from Oger and 14% Cuis. Tightly wound up front, with green apple, red apple, meringue, chestnuts, light toast around a savoury, doughy base, with ample chalkiness lingering down the salty finish. This reflects well the rich 2008 vintage, with still fantastic freshness in the bottle for having spent so long sur lattes.
