Black Hills Nota Bene 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Ross Wise is slowly tweaking Nota Bene, transforming a marketing icon success into an authentic icon wine worthy of all the hype and its price. The 2020 vintage is an excellent starting point, expressed by its refreshing plum, raspberry, and black cherry. Wise is also improving the texture of Nota Bene, dropping some of those green grippy tannins in favour of denser, sweeter, more refined tannins that effortlessly balance the fruit and acidity. He’s mixing crunchy red currant with milk chocolate, cloves, and savoury desert scrub to add complexity. Power and refinement are an excellent combination in a red blend, and the latest Nota Bene was heading in that direction in 2020. The final mix is 42/33/24/1 cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and petit verdot that spent 18 months in French oak, 44 percent new.Tasted: 02 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
