Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2020

Etna, Sicily, ItalyFounder Marc de Grazia is one of the pioneers of Etna, amongst the first to celebrate these neglected, ancient vineyards, and the first to bottle single-parcel nerello mascalese. This organic nerello mascalese (splashed with 2% nerello cappuccio) come from vineyards in Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, and vines ranging from 6-50 years rooted in Etna's volcanic soils, 600-1000m. Post ferment this aged in large format French oak for 1 year, following by a 1 month stint in stainless before bottling unfined. This lighter hued red charms with wild flowers, lifted cherry, fragrant raspberry on a finessed, medium bodied palate, seasoned with scrubby rosemary. Tannins are long and sticky, and acidity is lofted and effortless, with an underlying volcanic vibrato that carries this through the finish. His wines only go up in quality from here, which is a wonderful thought.Tasted: 20 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
