Rigour and Whimsy Edge of Chaos 2021

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRigour & Whimsy are a tiny garagiste, family-owned winery based in Okanagan Falls, sourcing vineyards across the Okanagan for their creative and adventuresome (and artfully labelled) portfolio, one that changes annually. This coferment blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 17% Petit Verdot comes off Osoyoos' Sekhon Family Vineyard and young vines. It was whole berry fermented over 3 weeks, then aged 5 months in used French oak puncheons and barriques. The WB ferment gives this an easy, herbaceous lift and brightness, while the sunned southern Okanagan fruit lends it amplitude on the palate. Wild cassis, perfumed brambleberry lead, with anise, downy violets / iris lingering on the finish. Tannins and plush and soft, while acidity is tight and leafy. Most definitely not your average Southern Okanagan cab blend (yay!), enjoy this youthful wine with a slight chill. 11.8%.Tasted: 05 September 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
