Sicily, ItalyNeré stems from Alberello (bush) trained Nero d'Avola vines that average 23 years, growing about one mile from the sea. The yields are low (2.5 tons/acre), but the return is high. Look for plenty of red/blackberry led by black plums and blackberries dusted with Mediterranean spices and chocolate. There is a twist of tannin, but nothing grilled meat won't subdue with ease.
